Busy

It’s been a busy couple weeks. We were able to see Brian and family while they were on their RV vacation. Spent a day with Isaac. I’ve been canning. Leonard picks flowers every once in awhile for me.

Yes, I am lucky! 🙂

Summer in Michigan

A gentleman from my church brought some produce to share for an object lesson. I was excited to get some homegrown red potatoes. Yummy!

We went to King’s Orchard to get some peaches but, they are not ripe yet. However, they did have some donut peaches. I’ve never hear of such a thing!

After leaving King’s Orchard, we went to Barnes Park. I just wanted to look in the water. Lake Michigan never disappoints!

Beautiful!
Rocks are pretty too!

Kindness

Most days, I’m fairly chipper when I go to work. This day, however, I was feeling a bit down for no particular reason. A friend of mine told me that I needed to go into the lunch room. I found it odd but proceeded to follow her cue. To my surprise…this is what I found!

I love this!

The couple that made this for me, share my love of “Snoopy”. I am always humbled and taken aback by the kindness of people.

My Heart Grows

My heart Grows three times with pride Everytime I have the opportunity to watch my bro perform. I got that opportunity tonight!

Simple Joys

I have not made jam in years, albeit…this year, our berries were in abundance. So, why not? Every year that I preserve anything, I forget that sweet “plink” of the jars sealing. Knowing that this sweet sound congratulates you in that your labor was not in vain. Even if it was a small batch.🙂

Black Raspberry Jam!

We grow tomatoes next to our house every year. This year, we had a few surprises. Spinach that came up voluntarily, providing us with enough to enjoy a salad every night and it continues to provide. Also, sunflower seeds made their way into our tomatoes as well. Sweet!

Excited for to see them in full bloom!
More flowers my daughter planted at our house!❤️

Some more “plinking” going on! 🙂

I Remember…

I remember telling my friends that I didn’t want anything to do with kids. I was not going to have any…Ever!

Well, life has a way that at times, causes us to eat our words, especially those spoken as a young adult. I became a parent and the joy that has filled my heart through this has flowed like a river through my life. Now, as a grandparent, I am filled with love and pride as I yearn to be a memorable part of their lives. It is only in God’s great mercy and love that He has designed us to fill our hearts with such love for our children and then our grandchildren. What a “lucky” gift this is from Him.

There have been times that it has been hard to be a parent/grandparent when we have to witness our children and grandchildren go through hard times. Also, it is a hard thing when they have to be set free to live their own lives and we don’t get to see them as much.

I remember loving the days that my kids didn’t have to go to school. It was so exciting to “hang out” with them. They were such a joy to be around.

This is the same feeling that I get when they visit.

This weekend, I not only had the privilege to see my daughter, Tina and grandson, Isaac once as they came to pick berries, but twice…when, Leonard had the idea of a surprise visit to their house. I love seeing these special people. I am so glad, that God had a better plan for my life than what I had for myself. This has happened so many times in my life! I am so thankful!

I look forward to this afternoon also, when my son and grandsons call for a video chat. I am thankful that both of my children are attentive to me, their humble but loving mum and their fun dad.

A great Saturday, so far!

I was able to visit with my friend, Barb and her granddaughter, Emerson. What a blessing that was!!!🙂 I sure am lucky to have such special friends that are dear to my heart.

One of the many uses for a beach bucket! God has given us a bounty this year! Blackcaps aka black raspberries!

Final Day in the U.P.

We started in the morning heading north. I had visions of seeing many waterfalls, but ended up seeing three. Still, they were a joy to see. First stop, “Laughing Whitefish Falls”, this had a short walk in and then 152 steps down to the bottom. (Leonard counted. 🙂 After this one, he decided that he didn’t want to go to anymore that you had to walk to.
